Located in the heart of the Deep Creek Lake area, Western Trails Stable has been offering trail rides to the public since opening in 1970. Founder Fredlock Schenk and his son Larry ran the  horse farm along with a dairy barn. In the 1970's camping was added as were local horse shows. Visitors who have been coming back for years  have watched the third generation owner, Gene grow up on the farm.  Today he lives on the farm with his wife and three children. He has added horse related services such as breeding,training, and lessons, and still offers the favorites, trail riding, hay rides and hand led pony rides.
